You need to see a bigger future! Maybe your vision is too limited!

I always try to inspire people to explore their creativity and enhance their innovation opportunities by understanding the trends that define our future. Sometimes I need to push people beyond their wildest imagination. One of the ways I've done this is by challenging them - and you - to imagine the future world of a 5-year-old today.

With a world of accelerating change, what will the world look like when they are in their 20s? As young parents in their 30's? In their 50's - that will be the year 2072! What about in their 80's - that will be the year 2102! Can you imagine their future? Maybe not.

In my 'A Child Alive' video - a short view into their future - I tried to imagine their world.

A Child Alive Today - Imagine What They Will Witness Tomorrow!

There is a child alive today who will never know how to drive a car because they will live in the era of selfdriving vehicles.

There is a child alive today who will know what medical conditions they are likely to develop and be impacted by through the rest of their life as a result of the acceleration of genomic DNAbased medicine.

There is a child alive today for whom some type of robotic device will be a regular part of their daily working and personal life.

There is a child alive today who will have some sort of live tissue used for eye care, dental or other medical transplant procedure.

There is a child alive today who will probably live in a world in which they have a number of sensors embedded in their body which provide information on their health and other factors which guide them throughout their life.

There is a child alive today who will see the entire virtualization of industries utilizing their skills that they developed through computer gaming to redefine the function of where work is actually performed.

And there is a child alive today who will participate in some form of text message based elections, which will be instant and will fundamentally change the concept of democracy for those nations that still have a democratic system in place.

And I offer - there is a child alive today who is looking for you to build a future for them that is free of fear, free from oppression and full of freedom. What are you going to do to provide a better world for a child alive today?

And that's the key point of this type of thought exercise - imagining the world of the future of a 5-year-old today, can help us to imagine the trends that will come about. Here's the thing though: most of the trends I talk about in this video are already either well underway today or are in their nascent stage.

If you think about that, that's why you need to stretch your imagination. Maybe you aren't thinking big enough with stuff like this - maybe you need to push and exercise your imagination a bit more.

This is why when it comes right down to it - maybe you need a bigger imagination!

By the way, I'm having a lot of fun with my TikTok exploration. It's all about short, sharp shocks of snappy video insight. Join me over at https://tiktok.com/@futuristjimcarroll

Here's my post from yesterday, based on yesterday's Daily Inspiration.

Enjoy! It's fun! It's snowing! It's epic!

Futurist Jim Carroll's very first memories include very hazy snippets of the assassination of JFK, a memory os his mom hiding food and water in the basement during the Cuban Crisis, and the appearance of the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show! Consider how much the world has since the early 60's! Right around this time, as a 5 year old, his mom had twins at the age of 47 - after already having 6 children. The doctor and medical system didn't know until one month before that she was due to have twins. Think how far medical science has come since then. Now imagine how far it is yet to go in the future!
