"Never fear admitting your first attempt fell short." - Futurist Jim Carroll

So this happened yesterday!

...which means we should go to print in the next few short weeks.
I did decide it was time to try different subtitles, since the original had 'courage' and that didn't fit within the overall theme and content of the book. Any preferences?
- How Curiosity, Rebellion, and Resilience Become Your Competitive Edge
- Why the Rebels, the Odd Ones Out, and the Crazy Ones Always Win
- Learn to Think Like the Rebels, the Odd Ones Out, and the Crazy Ones
Let me know if you have a preference!

So how does all this relate to today's quote? In my mind, I keep going back to the idea of the first draft, which I still had on my desk up to a few months. It was NOT in good shape, and it took me a while to admit it - very much so as the urging of my wife/editor. Through that process, I learned a lot more about my thinking, my writing, and my approach to this project.
For too long, I was tied to that first draft, unwilling to let it go. And somewhere along the way, I realized that is the exact same thing my clients do when it comes to innovation and new ideas. They are far too eager to get things moving, but far too unwilling to let things to when those first - or second or third - initiatives fail.
Succeeding at things not only means having the initiative to get things started, but the willingness to walk away from your first attempt when it no longer makes sense.
