"Precision, prediction, and possibility - this is the future of care." - Futurist Jim Carroll

I'm off to speak at an event today that combines the themes of personalized and predictive medicine, medical device technology, and the future of manufacturing. It should be a great event! I'll report more below, and tomorrow.
But first, some housekeeping!
Pre-orders for Dancing in the Rain: How Bold Leaders Grow Stronger in Stormy Times, are now available. We are really close to print! It's at, of course, the Dancing site. Interestingly enough, my keynote today will be in a massive outdoor tent with several hundred people, thunderstorms are due, and so I sense a metaphor coming on! Hit the Pre-Order Now button NOW!
Or, heck, you can buy it right here, right now. I'll ship in mid-July or sooner as soon as I get copies! I'll sign it for you. The price includes shipping, from Canada.

Second, someone asked me what other books I've written. To help with that, I've pulled together a little site at books.by.jimcarroll.com. It only details the books I've done since 2004 - and doesn't include the 34 I did around the topic of the Internet in the 90s!

Third, I've got another series coming on! My post a few weeks ago about the 'megatrends' in the Dancing In the Rainbook drew quite a bit of attention, and quite a few folks asked me to elaborate. With that, I'll be starting a new trends series this Monday, taking a look at each one. I think you'll find it to be a fascinating voyage. It will take about 30 days to unfold, or about 6 weeks, so this should see us through to August. I might take a break on one certain date to mark a momentous moment. Stay tuned!

My goal is to give you insight so that you can discover your next big idea within the trends. Like this.

Back to today's topic. The essence of my keynote can be found in this slide.

As I open my upcoming keynote, one of the first visuals I’ll be sharing highlights a core message: medical device transformation and disruption are accelerating—fast.
This slide sets the stage with four key forces driving this transformation:
- Changing relationship with personal health circumstances. Patients are becoming active participants in their care. With wearables, digital health platforms, and real-time data, individuals are managing their wellness proactively, not reactively.
- New manufacturing design, development, and time-to-market methodologies. Technologies like 3D printing and additive manufacturing are collapsing innovation cycles. Rapid prototyping and agile development mean devices can move from concept to reality faster than ever before.
- Acceleration of medical science. Breakthroughs in areas like genomics, bioengineering, and regenerative medicine are reshaping what’s possible in care. The speed of discovery is feeding directly into smarter, more adaptive devices.
- Medical device intelligence. We’re now embedding AI into the very fabric of medical devices. These tools are no longer passive: they’re predictive, responsive, and increasingly autonomous in their ability to assist care decisions.
This is the convergence of diagnostics, therapeutics, and innovation.
And it supports the idea I’ll emphasize throughout the keynote: “Precision, prediction, and possibility—this is the future of care.”
Who knows. I might be dancing in the rain!
Futurist Jim Carroll once spoke to 700 executives in a large outdoor tent, and had a tornado warning 30 minutes before he went on stage.
